What Are The Benefits of Soil-Based Probiotics?

You’ve no doubt at least heard about probiotics and that they’re good for you, but are you aware of the details?  The more knowledge you arm yourself with, the better able you are to make good choices for your body and for your family as well.  A good diet and exercise routine, along with enough rest will send you down the right path, but a regular dose of probiotics can help give you the boost that so many of us need.

Toxins are all around us and detoxification programs are rampant.  With a wealth of fast food at our fingertips, along with busy lives that often seem to leave no time for making good, healthy meals, we often fall off the wagon and just get whatever is quick and easy to fill our empty stomachs without a thought to what we’re actually ingesting.  Even when you decide to make good food choices, often it can lead to a moment of pause when you think about recalls or illnesses derived from even the most health supportive veggies, like spinach.  Our crops are covered with pesticides and you simply can’t be sure that you’re not ingesting some each day, although certainly washing them thoroughly before you eat can help.

We also have many choices when it comes to staying hydrated, or at least we think we do.  Soft drinks and juice, dairy and energy drinks are all around us, and water seems to fall to the bottom of the list because it’s not exciting and doesn’t come in a well designed, brightly colored can or have its own well armed advertisements.  Water is vastly important, and if you exercise routinely, it becomes that much more vital.  Exercise and sleep are also very important to help your body function at its best.  When you exercise you perform all sorts of good things for your body, both inside and out, and getting your heart rate up each day will serve you well into your golden years.  At the other end of the spectrum, sleep is needed so that you can regroup and prepare for the day ahead.  Your body uses this time to rest and to heal itself.

So where do probiotics fit in?  The foods we buy these days are often glossy caricatures of what our ancestors would take from the fields and cook with.  Everything in your grocery aisles is cleaned up and ready for you to take home and use, which is of course wonderful in its way, but have you thought about what else has been sanitized and washed away?  Soil.  No, you didn’t read that wrong.  Soil is full of life, and some of them, when ingested, provide our systems with a powerful punch of good organisms and a way to fend off would be wellness attackers.  Our ancestors benefited from these organisms far more than we do today, as their food would be grown very naturally without chemicals in a field, picked and eaten at their freshest, with more than a few micro organisms making their way into the intestines where they could work their magic.

Although you probably think of bacteria as something negative, something that can have adverse health effects, there are a number of good bacteria that your body can benefit greatly from.  Probiotics are live yeasts and bacteria that provide health for your digestive system and can help keep your gut healthy.  Some probiotics will attack the bad bacteria in your digestive tract, while others feed the good bacteria that may have already taken up residence.  You can find probiotics in some food, especially those that have been fermented (think yogurt, kefir, kombucha, pickles, sauerkraut, kimchi) and also in supplements.  If you’re not getting enough good bacteria from diet alone, a supplement is a great way to increase the health of your digestive system and subsequently, your entire body.

Royal Flora SBO capsules are made with soil based bacteria (the SBO stands for soil based organisms).  There is an important distinction between soil based and dairy based bacteria; the lactic bacteria are acid-based, and they often times deteriorate in the acidity of our internal systems before they get the chance to do any good.  If a nutritionist recommends a lactic based bacteria for some reason, they tend to require that you search for one with a high colony forming unit (meaning that they can breed very quickly and easily) so that enough of them hopefully make it through to your small intestines alive.

It’s similar to the way rabbits breed; they have many offspring in the hopes that some will make it into adulthood since they have to navigate their way through a life full of hostile predators.  A soil based bacteria is made of sterner stuff, and there is far less need to look for one that has a high colony forming unit.  More of these bacteria will happily make their way to your small intestine without requiring any coatings or alterations to its natural make up.  This also means that your dosages can be smaller and your hard earned dollars go a lot further.

Royal Flora contains only live, primary culture which lays dormant in each easy to swallow capsule; the bacteria will come to life only when activated by your body fluids.  Since they stay dormant until you need them, there is no need to worry about shelf life, and there is no need to take up space in your refrigerator.  The bottle can be conveniently stored in either your bathroom medicine cabinet or in a cupboard in the kitchen for easy access on a daily basis.  There is no mutation, and no alterations have been made to the culture; these are as natural as they can be, with no added sugar, salt, dairy, or preservatives.  Royal Flora also contains no artificial color or flavoring, fillers or artificial additives!  Each capsule is packed with as many soil based organisms as physically possible and are just waiting to colonize and help you on the road to health.

This product does not treat diseases or conditions that you may be suffering from.  It’s not a band aid for symptoms or a temporary pain relief medication. Rather, it gets right to the heart of the matter and helps your body increase its ability to heal itself.  The organisms in the capsules fight pathogens and the bad bacteria it comes into contact with, feeding the good bacteria so that your digestive tract becomes the breeding ground for health inducing organisms that will spread into the rest of your body.  The acid wastes that are eliminated means that your system can restore its natural alkalinity, stabilize blood sugar, and maintain glandular integrity!  No other product on the market today can do so much to restore good health and well-being.

Do you have to take it twenty min before a meal? It’s hard for me to remember to take it that long before a meal.. Also can you take this with Atrantil?

    • The Wolfe Clinic

Yes, it can be tricky. Personally, I usually try to take it as soon as I wake up so that I know it’s on an empty stomach, and then I go through my routine as normal, which generally involves eating a little while later. It’s just a matter of whatever works for you.

I’ve never heard of any issues with Atrantil. Of course, we’d recommend taking Royal Tea with the Flora instead. Have a nice day!

I’m experiencing GI trouble since taking this supplement. Almost every probiotic I take has this outcome . I’ve tried taking 1 capsule in morning and one at night. I quit after a few days because it’s inconvenient. Should I stay consistent to see if GO upset subsides? I really want to like this product!

    • The Wolfe Clinic

I’m sorry to hear that! Since this is consistent with every probiotic you’ve tried (soil-based and dairy-based?), you’ve got a couple options.

      1. Cut back the dosage even more to one capsule every other day and see if that solves it.
      2. Continue with your current dosage to see if your system adapts.

However, it may be a good idea to consult with your doctor. The formula may be too strong for your system, or it is also possible that you’re having a reaction to something else in the formula.
